Welcome back to another Community Spotlight! With spring finally here and the NYTW Annual Gala just right around the corner, we thought we’d take a peek into our wonderful Development department to spotlight our one and only Development Associate for Individual Giving and Special Events, Victoria Foster. See what Victoria had to say about her time at the Workshop!
What is your role at NYTW?
My mouthful of a title is Development Associate for Individual Giving and Special Events, which basically just means I help our development team provide exemplary service to all members of our Society of Repeat Defenders and of our 4th Street Bar Association. These generous folks get access to multiple shows a year as well as exclusive events, so I make sure they have tickets to said shows and events! I also help the development department organize our various special events, mail out donation acknowledgements, and anything else we have to do! We all wear many hats.
Most memorable show or experience at NYTW?
After accepting this job in September, I had the incredible opportunity to attend Sanctuary City’s opening night at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. I still consider that show to be the best play I have ever seen, and one of the most moving works of art I have experienced in my life. After the show, I got to meet all of my future co-workers at an after-show party on Pier 66 overlooking the Hudson River. It was such a memorable night for so many reasons, and gave me all the affirmation I needed that I made the correct choice in joining NYTW’s lovely team!
What or who inspires you?
I am inspired by every other trans woman that has come before me, is living alongside me, and will exist long after I am gone. We are here, there, and everywhere, and always have been.
What are you looking forward to in 2022?
2022 is a hard year to look forward to! Despite precarious times, I still look forward to spending everyday with my girlfriend Cherry and memorable moments with my queer family. Last summer was the best summer of my life, and I look forward to topping it this summer! I also am truly looking forward to the remainder of our 21/22 season; each one of our shows always brings me such joy.
