With less than a month until their arrival, our upcoming cohort of 2050 Fellows shared what they were looking forward to for the season and experience ahead!

NIKKI (Artistic Fellow in Playwriting): “I’m deeply honored to be included among these brilliant, thoughtful artists and to be at NYTW during such an important season of groundbreaking new work.”

ANDRES (Artistic Fellow in Playwriting): “I’m grateful and excited to be a 2050 fellow, and to be in community with the rest of my wonderful cohort. I look forward to deepening my relationship with NYTW and the folks there who make this opportunity possible!”

DANICA (Artistic Fellow in Directing): “Many theatre artists I admire and consider role models have called, or still call, NYTW their artistic home. I am thrilled to be able to do the same for a year, sharing the space with my talented cohort of fellows and the wonderful people at NYTW who make it all happen. I look forward to all the conversations, work sharings, and the mutual support and encouragement as we strive to create the best theatre possible for the current moment we find ourselves in.”

CHRISTIE (Artistic Fellow in Directing): “I am extremely grateful to NYTW for this incredible opportunity to move to New York. I’m excited to contribute to the conversation around new work development and to engage with the challenging question around the how, why, and what we do as theatre artists. I look forward to getting to know my cohort, becoming part of the community, and immersing myself in the diverse and boundary breaking theatre scene.”

SHANIA (Development Fellow): “I AM BEYOND THRILLED to be a NYTW 2050 Fellow. This is a great community, network of artists and theatre-makers, and I’m excited to see what I can bring and learn from the program and the other fellows. What I look forward the most to is the connections. Theatre can be big once you start, but as I continued my journey in administration, I felt more at home with so many people having my back and enjoying my journey. NYTW will be no different.”

MARTY (Education & Engagement Fellow): “As someone who loves improv and education, I am so grateful that NYTW has said ‘yes and’ to me, and to see what fun, challenging, and meaningful experiences I’ll have throughout the fellowship that I will have to ‘yes and’ right back. I am excited to help expose students to the moving, powerful theatre that this season’s artists will be making, and to feel inspired myself by the work the students make in response.”

SALWA (Artistic Administrative Fellow): “I’m excited to dive into new play development! It’s a dream come true to read plays for a living. I think NYTW’s Mondays at 3 readings will be a fun way to meet artists, hear beautiful stories, and hone my dramaturgy and administrative skills. I loved producing readings at Page 73 and am excited to get to do it every other week at NYTW!”

TYRA (Marketing Fellow): “I am overjoyed to make the NYTW and the East Village my home! I am excited to be among budding arts leaders, and I hope that through the camaraderie of my peers and the support of the NYTW team, I will better define my practice as a theatre administrator and experience perspectives that I may not have otherwise. I look forward to finding inspiration from the artists, creatives, and neighbors that make up this community!”
